JUMP SCORING

The judging criteria for Jump Scoring are based primarily the PWA scoring system.

1. Height

2. Difficulty

3. Execution & Style

4. Clean Landing

5. Creativity

NOTE: Some reward for pushing new and difficult moves but a clean landing takes priority. ‘Wet’ landings receive lower scores.

ELIMATION FORMAT

All competitors participate in at least 2 heats before being eliminated. Winners advance to subsequent Rounds, losers are entered into a Redemption Round known as the Expression Session.

WAVE PRIORITY
The rider with priority is ‘first to be catch the energy of the wave’. Other riders competing in the heat can saild the same wave, but only if they do not interfere with the scoring ability of the rider who was first. A rider loses priority if they miss or pull out of the wave.

INTERFERENCE
A competitor who interferes with the scoring potential of another competitor with priority over them will be given a penalty. This means that their heat score will be calculated using only their best scored wave. If a competitor has 2 interferences during a heat they will be disqualified from the heat.

COMPETITOR DICIPLINE
The Head Judge is in charge of competitor discipline. No fines will be issued. The worst penalty a competitor can have is elimination from the round. If the competitor is eliminated from the round they will earn last place for the competition result and ranking points. We promote good sportsmanship between all competitors.

RESTARTING A HEAT
If none of the competitors catches a wave during the first ten mins. of a heat then the Head Judge has the ability to restart the heat.

DRUG FREE POLICY
The IWT’s Anti-Doping Policy includes both performance-enhancing and illicit substances and applies to competitors and tournament staff. Dietary supplements may contain prohibited substances and cause a positive drug test.
